QR menu, ordering and table-tab system

The customer scans the code on the table, sees the menu, adds to a basket and orders. The order appears on the waiter panel with an audible alert; once approved it drops to the kitchen screen. The tab builds up on the table and closes when the bill is settled. Nothing to install.

How it works

  1. The customer scans the code on the table and the menu opens on their phone.
  2. They add to the basket, write a note if they want, and send the order.
  3. The order appears on the waiter panel with an audible alert and the table number.
  4. The waiter approves it; the order moves to the kitchen screen.
  5. The kitchen marks each item "ready" as it goes, and the waiter delivers it.
  6. The tab builds up on the table; when the bill is settled the table clears.

After the first order the approval step drops away: until the tab closes, further orders from the same table go straight to the kitchen. The waiter does not have to scan anything.

Frequently asked

Does the customer have to install an app?
No. Scanning the QR code on the table with the phone camera opens the menu in the browser. There is nothing to download, for the customer or the staff.
How does the waiter see the order?
There is a panel page kept open; when an order lands it gives an audible alert. One tap approves it, and an approved order moves to the kitchen screen.
Could someone photograph the QR code and order from a distance?
The order shows on the waiter panel with the table number and waits for approval. An order landing on an empty table is rejected by the waiter. After the first order is approved, further orders from the same table flow through without approval until the tab closes.
Do I have to print the QR codes again every day?
No. The QR is permanent and only points at the table. It is printed once and stays there.
How does stock tracking work?
Stock is held in its own unit and you say how many units one sale takes off. Bottled water is tracked in pieces, so one sale takes one off. Fresh orange juice is tracked in millilitres, so a glass takes 250 ml off. Ice cream is tracked in grams, so one scoop takes 80 g off. Leave the amount blank and that product is not stock-tracked.
Can two separate tabs be opened on the same table?
No. While a table has an open tab, a second session is not started; incoming orders are added to the existing tab. Once the bill is settled the table is ready for the next customer.
